This is what Holling's teacher looks like.  She is an older lady, but she is also athletic, because she was an Olympic champion. 

This is a picture of Vietnam War soldiers. The Wednesday Wars taught me a lot about this war in Asia that I didn't know about before reading the book.  When a school worker's husband was killed, it made me wonder how it would feel to have a family member fighting in a country far from home.

I think  this is what Holling's sister looks  like. 

She is very much into the "hippie movement" of the 1960s.

She is anti-war, loves the Beatles and dresses like the girl
