  • Adding pictures to  your website
    • If you copy and paste a picture, and it doesn't show up on your web page, try the following steps:
    1. find the picture on the Internet that you want
    2. point your cursor at the picture and right click
    3. click properties
    4. copy ALL of the website (URL) in the properties box
    5. go to edit mode on your site
    6. click the insert/edit image icon on your toolbar, next to HTML
    7. paste the URL you copied into the image URL field
    8. add a title, which will show up, when you hover over it, if you wish

    Changing colors and fonts

    To change your font or color, follow these steps:

    1. Click the arrow next to Font family or font size and choose the desired font and size
    2. Click the arrow next to the blue A or the yellow ab on the toolbar, and select the font color or font shade

    Creating and adding a page to your site

    To create a new page and link it within your current website, follow these steps 

      1. Go to your private page. 
      2. Click edit and type the phrase that you want your new link to be called; for example, My Writing 
      3. Highlight or select that phrase
      4. Click on the chain link icon  on your toolbar (above the horse shoe)
      5. When the link URL pop-up box comes up, type a page name that begins with your last name, then first name, followed by the page title; for example, Barnesmarkwriting.  No spaces allowed here 
      6. Click insert
      7. Click Save & Close
      8. Click on the new link you've created
      9. A box will pop up saying Page Not Found
      10. Click the link that says Create Page
      11. Click Submit
      12. Save & Close
      13. Your new link and page have now been created on the link you've just created

    To add a web link, follow these steps:

    1. Copy the web address (URL) that you want linked on your site
    2. Type the word or phrase you want visitors to click to reach the linked site
    3. Select the word or phrase to be linked
    4. Click the link icon, under Font Family, on your menu
    5. Paste the URL into the URL field and save

    Adding attachments

    To add an attachment follow these steps

    1. Close the document you want to attach to your barnesclass site
    2. Go to the page you want to attach the document to
    3. Click the "edit" link in the upper-right corner
    4. Click the Attachments tab under page tools
    5. Use the Browse tab to locate your file
    6. Browse to your folder and to the exact document you want to attach
    7. Upload your file
    8. Give your file any name you wish
    9. Be sure to submit your attachment

    Linking to an attachment

    To link an attachment as a part of text follow these steps

    1. Type the word or phrase that you want a reader to click, when opening your attachment
    2. Select this word or phrase
    3. Click the insert/edit icon under Font family on the toolbar
    4. Find Link List on the pop-up box and click the dropdown arrow
    5. Look for a list of attachments (remember, the document must already be attached to your page)
    6. Select the attachment you want linked
    7. Click Insert

    Change your password

    To change your password, follow these steps:

    1. On the main menu at the top of the site, click User
    2. On the dropdown menu, click on preferences
    3. Enter the password you desire -- all lower case letters
    4. Re-enter the password where it says, confirm password
    5. Click submit, and your password is changed

    Creating a page template

    To create a new page using a template and link it within your current website, follow these steps 

      1. Go to your private page. 
      2. Click edit and type the phrase that you want your new link to be called; for example, My Outline 
      3. Highlight or select that phrase
      4. Click on the chain link icon  on your toolbar (above the horse shoe)
      5. When the link URL pop-up box comes up, type a page name that begins with your last name, then first name, followed by the page title; for example, barnesmaroutline.  No spaces allowed here 
      6. Click insert
      7. Click Save & Close
      8. Click on the new link you've created
      9. A box will pop up saying Page Not Found
      10. Click the link that says Create Page
      11. IMPORTANT: click the dropdown menu arrow, next to Template
      12. Look for the proper template, such as Outline Template
      13. Click Submit
      14. Save & Close
      15. Your new link and page have now been created on the link you've just created
