Reading Log
A reading log is a collection of journal entries about a story. A reading log consists of various types of entries:
Question -- Write questions about plot and character; these are things you'll try to learn as the story moves forward.
Connect -- Write about personal connections to the plot and the characters in the story.
Predict -- Write what you believe may happen next, based on something you have just read in the story.
Clarify -- Write in your own words what is happening. This is like a "Think-aloud," in which you are trying to talk out the story events for better understanding. In other words, begin by writing, "What I think is happening here is. . ."
Evaluate -- Write your opinions about what you have read. Write these while you're reading and when you have finished. These entries are often critical of characters or authors.
